Ingenue

It's done and it feels so wonderful to wear. Lucky for me, I finished it while it's still a little cool here. I'm actually hoping for more cold weather so I can wear it again. The photo is before blocking, and I have read that it will grow a little which is what I planned for. Wouldn't it be great to have something actually turn out how you want?

Another FO for the week is....yes...another pair of socks. I actually like this yarn even though it's a bit splitty. For some reason I wanted to knit a pair of cream colored socks but now that they are done I think I will save them for a gift.

All is Right

Well it's 80 here and all is right with the world. The blogging paused for a bit due to a personal illness, a lovely vacation in Jamaica, dog surgery recovery and me cleaning up messes in the house all day, Girl Scout cookie sales, and Junior volleyball.

February was hectic and ended with a much needed, very relaxing vacation. DH and I are celebrating 15 years of marriage this year and we spent it with our friends of 15 years who are celebrating their 15th anniversary as well. We don't live near them anymore but when we are together it's like we've never been apart. They are fabulous! There was lots of drinking, some eating, lots of drinking, lots of sun, lots of drinking, lots of beach volleyball, and lots of laughs. Did I say lots of drinking? Somehow you can go to Jamaica and drink all day long and not feel ill. I think that in the first 3 days there I wasn't without a drink if I was awake. I can't wait to go back.

Now because I was always drinking, I did very little knitting. I did bring socks to work on but I only worked on them during travel and first thing in morning before breakfast. It was nice to not knit. I can't believe I said that but I think I needed a knit break as well. I can see the knitting is going to slow a bit this spring. I have the desire again to work in my yard and do some planting. Last year I was in a funk and didn't do anything with the yard. No funk this year. Yeah!

If you aren't already hogging the bandwidth at Knitty then you should know the Spring Knitty is up. These will be my next socks on the needles. And I think they are destined to be made with Wollmeise. It's not surprising that these socks are from Cookie A's blogmate.

Whew!

Well I survived the dinner party. The food was done on time, liked by all, and our guests stayed longer than we thought...which was a good thing. My husband work's with a great bunch of people. We had lots of laughs.

Our dog Lily has had her surgery and is recovering well. She had the stone removed from the bladder, the bladder pulled back 2.5" into the abdomen and lots of tests and biopsies to determine where to go from here. The early test results show that she will need an alternate diet and a couple of urine tests a year but other than that she will be just fine. She is sporting a pretty bad haircut right now and I think she is a little self conscious about it. Her entire belly and up the body sides is shaved and one leg is shaved like a poodle. The kids think we should shave all her legs like that so she looks more balanced. I think she's been through enough. Her hair grows rapidly so in a few weeks she'll be back to her normal cuteness.

I'm still knitting like mad. Just finished a pair of Flat Feet socks (2 at-a-time) and they turned out great. I love using the Flat Feet for that method. It minimizes the tangling.

I've cast on Ingenue from Custom Knits using Malabrigo Worsted in color Cognac. I can tell right now this will be my go-to winter sweater. I'm almost finished with the yoke. The weather here has turned warm so I may not be able to wear it until next year. I think it will be worth the wait.

Is it next week yet?

I tinked back the sweater just few rows to fix the minor error and I have decided to "cheat" on the cable error. Well, I am going to fix it using the cheat and then decide if I should rip back. I don't have it in me to do that now so it's on the table for this weekend.

In continuation of my "good fortune" (NOT!)this week...we have discovered that our dog Lily has a quarter sized stone in her bladder. That in itself is not a problem. It will require surgery to remove but it's the next part we didn't know. She has a pelvic bladder. Basically her bladder should be in her abdomen but instead it's in her pelvis. This does not allow her to fill her bladder up very much before she has to relieve herself. It is possible to pull the bladder back into the abdomen (so we are told) at 3x the cost of just having the stone removed. We'll meet with a Vet Surgeon next week to decide if we just do the stone removal or both.



Tomorrow we are having a dinner party here. Not my favorite thing to do. I don't mind casual dinners but we are cooking for DH's work friends. So I feel the need to cook something less casual and I feel obligated to clean the house. Both of those things I dread. I'm hoping my luck improves and the dinner we chose (which by the way we have never made before) turns out or we'll be eating out. :)

Not off to a good start this week

So there I am, just sitting and knitting quietly on the Dr. G's Memory Vest for my husband. The kids are actually quietly playing on the Wii and I am listening to Cast On. I just finished a WS row and I decide to look over my wonderful work. Crap! It looks like there is a mistake 3 rows back. No problem. I can work through that. Maybe I should check over the rest of the work. I have looked plenty of times because of all the cabling involved and I hadn't seen any problems....until now. CRAP CRAP! I mis-crossed a cable 4 cables down! How the hell I am going to fix that?

After a little bit of web surfing, I can only find how to fix a cable before other cables have been done. I did find Yarn Harlot's cheat for fixing my problem but I don't know if I want to cheat. I was hoping to enter this vest in the fair in the fall. I really hate the idea of ripping back that many rows. This vest is already going slow enough. WAAAAAA!

I'm going to look a little longer to see if I can fix....otherwise I'm going to cry and then rip....Is it too early to start drinking?
